She also made guest appearances on television series such as Smallville and Fear Itself.

She co-starred in the USA Network original series, Psych, as Detective Juliet O'Hara. Lawson dated Psych co-star James Roday for eight years; the show ended its run in 2014.

In 2011 she was the star of a play called Greedy, directed by Roday, which played for a few weekends in Los Angeles.

In 2011, she performed a short skit called "A Date with Diana" for Funny or Die. In it, she played Wonder Woman and went on a date with a fan.

Lawson starred in the ABC sitcom Back In The Game, which was picked up for the 2013 fall season. The tenth episode was aired on December 11, 2013. ABC has not aired the remaining three episodes of its original 13-episode order, but may do so at a later date.

Lawson filed for divorce from Koldyke in early 2017, quickly stopped wearing her wedding ring to public events, and in late 2017 removed "wife" from her Twitter bio and changed her Instagram username from @maggielawsonkoldyke to @magslawslawson.

In 2014, it was announced that Lawson would topline the CBS comedy pilot Save the Date.

In 2016, Lawson starred in the CBS fantasy sitcom Angel from Hell. She played Allison Fuller, a dermatologist who knows Amy, a mysterious woman who reveals herself to be an angel. On February 8, 2016, CBS canceled the series after the first five episodes had aired.
